Intel rapid storage technology is created by Intel not Microsoft,
but Intel sends software updates of Intel rapid storage technology to Microsoft to include in Windows 10.
Only the retail build of windows 10 is supported, so currently this is build 10586.
If you need Intel rapid storage technology to work stay with the retail build.
Sep 05, 2016 Windows 10 upgrade - Intel C600 storage controller issue My computer is a Dell T3600 with RAID capability, even though I have only one hard drive. I was able to do so after getting a link for a driver from Dell. In Win 10's Device Manager, the RAID controller was shown without a driver, which I installed after downloading it from the Dell. Windows 10 upgrade - Intel C600 storage controller issue My computer is a Dell T3600 with RAID capability, even though I have only one hard drive. The hard drive is connected to the 'HDD0' port, which is used with RAID. @ all users with an Intel AHCI or RAID system Preliminary note: Since Intel is offering a big variety of different Intel AHCI and RAID driver versions, which belong to different development branches (MSM, RST, RSTe), it is not easy for the users to find the 'best suitable' one out of them.
New windows 10 Insider builds sometimes break Intel rapid storage technology software,
then Intel may release a fix /patch later or you may need to wait until the next windows 10
Insider build before it is fixed.
I've been an insider since Oct 2014 simply because I could not stand W8.1 It's been fun and I have no regrets of the situation that I'm in now. Again, it's been fun and well worth it. That said my computer crashed soon after build W10 'Pro' Insider Preview 14271 (fast ring). The update went fine other than a taskbar bug and a message saying that an app I had wasn't supported with this build. Well I had went out of town and came back to a PC with a blue screen that would not boot.
Several attempts had failed including free help from Dell (out of warranty) so I downloaded a free upgrade to W10 from a W7 PC via USB flash drive and it booted. But it changed my build to a W10 'Home' Preview Build. I also noticed that I have no more rapid storage technology. So I presume that's the app that wasn't supported with build 14271. Prior to the crash there was an option in my control panel to 'back up and restore (windows 8)' but that has changed to 'back up and restore (windows 7)' Coincidentally I got the free upgrade from a W7 PC.
Since the install my 2tb HDD is empty and doing nothing with all of my info going on to my 32gb SSD. I now have upgraded to build 14279 with about 6gb of free space. Next move is to remove my 1000 plus pics I re installed in Photo app which went into my 32gb SSD instead of my 2TB HHD.
I have everything set right in storage according to settings/system/storage for everything to go into my 2tb drive by default. But that's not doing anything. Not sure if I have everything right in Bios/boot order it's the best I can do. I still have a couple of options left before paying Dell to try and get my PC back in 100% working order but there's little faith left in me, lol. But like I said, I have no regrets. It's been fun watching W10 come to life. The thing that affects me the most, is why I am now on W10 Home preview instead of W10 Pro Preview. Here's some of my PC description purchased new from Dell:

Whether you are using one or multiple serial ATA (SATA) or PCIe drives, you can take advantage of enhanced performance and lower power consumption from the latest storage technologies. Additionally, you can rest easy knowing you have added protection against data loss in the event of a hard drive failure. Intel Rapid Storage Technology has added support for next generation PCIe storage devices with transfer speeds up to 1 GB/s that maximizes storage performance and improves response time for everyday usages like photo editing, video loading, and office productivity.
Dynamic storage accelerator accelerates the performance of your SSD by dynamically adjusting system power management policies to deliver up to 15 percent faster performance during heavy multitasking compared to default power management.
